STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., June 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Fitness professional, entrepreneur and Detroit native Derek Mikulski is unveiling today a new fitness tool that professional fitness instructors, physical therapists, fitness clubs and home exercisers around the world will soon be using to develop better balance, increase core strength and improve coordination.
The ActivMotion Bar - Glimpse Edition is the next level core and balance training tool. The hollow 4-foot, 4.5 pound bar is partially filled with ball bearings that move dynamically within when exercising, challenging balance and engaging core muscles as the user attempts to keep it stable. A "window" cut into the center of the bar allows users to see the ball bearings and attempt to keep them level, dramatically increasing focus and brain engagement during exercise.
"As athletes and non-athletes begin to age into their 30s and beyond, the loss of balance, body awareness and overall brain-muscle communication increases dramatically, often negatively impacting performance in life and sport," says Mikulski.
"Our new Glimpse Bar will help people of all ages and fitness levels improve balance, cognitive health and core strength in ways that no other fitness products can."
The standard ActivMotion Bar is a device that Mikulski first developed in 2014 for his personal training clients. After seeing incredible results in his clients, he built a business around the product line, making the tools available to other fitness professionals, fitness centers and home consumers globally. The new Glimpse Bar offers, as the name suggests, a visual assessment of balance and stability during exercise; something that is very important when determining progress and adding challenges to workouts and exercises.
A private study conducted at the University of Michigan Human Movement and Innovation Lab in 2015 showed that as a result of the constantly shifting weighted ball bearings, ActivMotion Bars engage muscles of the core nearly twice as much as similar fitness tools such as medicine balls and standard weighted bars as users attempt to either keep the bar stable or purposely shift the internal ball bearings from end to end.
In just over three short years, the ActivMotion Bar -- designed and manufactured in the Detroit area -- is now sold across the United States and in 22 countries around the world. Mikulski believes the new Glimpse Edition will help put his company in the upper tier of fitness equipment and education developers and suppliers.
Mikulski and his company are launching their new Glimpse Bar via a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign on June 27th. To learn more, visit www.activmotionbar.com
