The 12th Dharwad district Kannada Sahitya Sammelan will be held on the Karnatak Vidyavardhak Sangha premises here for two days from Friday.
Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) district unit president Lingaraj Angadi said Kannada writer Malati Pattanshetti will preside over the literary conference, while KSP State president Manu Baligar will declare it open. Veteran journalist Patil Puttappa will preside over the inaugural session and writer Guruling Kapase will deliver the keynote address. Poet and president of the previous district literary conference V.C. Airsang, Pralhad Joshi, MP, former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, and Basavaraj Horatti, MLC, will be present, he said.
Apart from various technical sessions on topics related to Kannada and literature, the conference will also comprise sessions on issues concerning the State, people and their interests on both the days.
Accordingly, the series of technical sessions will begin with a session on ‘Literature, Culture and History of Dharwad district’ and it will be presided over by writer Shyamasundar Bidarkundi.
It will be followed by a session on ‘Issues and concerns of the people of Dharwad’. Other sessions to be held are as follows: ‘Essence of north Karnataka dialect in Kannada literature’, ‘Contribution of women writers of north Karnataka for the Kannada literature’, and ‘Malaise of the youth writers’.
The poetic session will be presided over by poet Satish Kulkarni.
The conference will also pass a resolution on different issues. The valedictory session will be held on Saturday and it will be presided over by senior writer Panchakshari Hiremath. Chandrashekhar Patil will deliver the valedictory address, Mr. Angadi said.
