Nagpur: The official of the Central Bank of India, who had allegedly asked sexual favours of a farmer’s wife to process her husband’s crop loan application in Buldhana district, was arrested on Monday night.
Rajesh Hivase, the manager at the Datala town branch, had been absconding since June 22 after he was booked under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code and various sections of the SC-ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. “He was arrested in Nagpur. He was produced before court on Tuesday and remanded in police custody,” Sandip Doifode, Additional Superintendent of Police, Buldhana, told The Hindu.
The police had also arrested Manoj Chouhan, a peon at the same branch, on Saturday night. A Dalit farmer’s wife had lodged a police complaint on June 21 against Mr. Hivase. Mr. Chouhan was accused of delivering Mr. Hivase’s message to the woman and arranging for communication between them.
The Central Bank of India has already suspended Mr. Hivase.
