Transport union threatens strike on July 10

Uttarakhand Roadways Karamchari Union (URKU) announced strike on 10 July to press their demands which include clearing salary on time and filling the vacant posts among others. The union leaders said that they have served an ultimatum to the authorities, saying that they would wait till July 9 for the authorities to concede their demands.

“If nothing happens by then we would be left with no other alternative but to go for the strike,” said the general secretary of the union Ashok Choudhary.

He, further, said that they had earlier postponed the strike keeping in view the tourist season. “We have intimated the divisional manager of the State road transport corporation  on June 25.

The principal demands  we are fighting for are recruitment for the post of helpers, discarding the old vehicles, going for new ones, clearance of the pending salaries and transferring officers who have completed three years in a post,” he added.
