Sajid Ali Ansari and the woman he fell in love with met in 2010 after he called her “by mistake”.

On Monday night, when he was questioned why he killed the “love of his life”, he remained silent, said investigators.

Sajid and his wife Juhi, both from Bihar, started to grow closer after that call and began a relationship that eventually culminated in their marriage in 2014.

The woman, a Hindu, went against her family to marry Sajid. In 2011, he went to a private university in Kurukshetra to pursue engineering and she completed her graduation in Bihar. After marriage, the woman changed her name to Juhi. She had two kids.

A senior police officer said that when Sajid was picked up on Monday for questioning, his first response was: “I did not do anything. She had gone to a friend’s house”.

When confronted with evidence and told that the carton the body was found in was recovered from his house, he allegedly confessed.

“He was asked why he killed the woman he loved... He remained silent and did not shed a tear. There was no visible remorse,” the officer said.

Since the murder, Sajid was living at his brother Hasmat’s house along with his two kids. “He told Hasmat’s wife that Juhi fought with him and left for a friend’s house,” the officer said.

Juhi’s body is due for post-mortem on Wednesday. The police said that a family member has been informed but her parents had not reached till Tuesday night.
