Premier League transfer news and rumours

Valdano: Kane would help Real

Former Real Madrid manager Jorge Valdano believes the European champions should sign Harry Kane from Tottenham, ESPN reports.

Kane is captaining England at the World Cup and has scored five goals in two matches so far in Russia - two against Tunisia and three against Panama.

Speaking with German publication Sport BILD, Valdano says 24-year-old Kane would be a better buy than Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski - another striker linked with a move to the Bernabeu.

Valdano, the former Argentina striker who managed Real from 1994 to 1996, said: “If I was responsible for Real, I would sign Harry Kane. He is five years younger than Lewandowski but he could still deal well with the brutal pressure that exists at Real. That’s my assessment. He already seems very mature and he’s an unbelievable finisher as well. He would help Real.”

On 8 June Spurs announced that Kane had signed a new six-year deal to stay with the north London club, The Guardian reports.
