Body found after house fire in rural south Auckland

Fire crews were called to the scene in Papakura shortly before 3.30am Wednesday.

A person has died in a house fire in rural south Auckland early Wednesday morning.

Fire and Emergency northern communications shift manager Scott Osmond said firefighters were alerted to the blaze in the house on Papakura-Clevedon Rd, near Ardmore, about 3.20am.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown but two fire investigators and police are currently on scene.

Around 5am Wednesday, firefighters were unsure whether anyone was in a burning house south of Auckland.
