RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: An Indian rock python and 15 eggs were found during excavation work at Irrigation quarters area in Dowleswaram on Tuesday.
According to sources, Balaji, research scientist, Dr A Phaneendra, veterinary doctor and Srinivas, forest guard of Diwancheruvu forest area, reached the spot and rescued the reptile and shifted it to the Bio-diversity Research Lab at Mahanagara Pushkara Vanam. The python was kept in a special container and later released it into the forest. After hatching of the eggs, the offspring would also be released into the forest.
In another incident, a brown-black snake (Tadelu Pamu) was found on the wall of a house in a colony in the reserve forest area. Similarly, an Asian palm civet (Manu Pilli) was also found near the quarry market area in the city. It was handed over to forest officials. It is presently kept under the care of veterinary doctors.
