Waste from septic tanks released on roads

Vadodara: The waterlogging in the areas administered by Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA) due to heavy rain may be temporary.
But due to absence of drainage network, the realtors have made septic tanks which often overflow resulting in deluge on roads.

When TOI visited Bill on Wednesday, residents of two buildings complained of overflowing septic tanks. The buildings still do not have residents’ associations since the builders own several apartments there due to which the residents have complained to gram panchayat. The gram panchayat have shot off several notices to the builders, but that has not changed the situation.

In fact, waste water from overflowing septic tanks is released on road. “The waste water is being released by builder on road since rain water is already accumulated there. The gram panchayat is also not able to do much except for serving notices. If this will continue for the entire monsoon season, the road outside the building will turn into a mosquito breeding spot,” said another resident Atul Valand.

“The pockets which are populated, have come across releasing of waste water of septic tank on roads or open plots. There have also been instances where the drainage line from residential schemes is directly released in our village’s storm water drain,” said Rajeshkumar Parmar, sarpanch of Chapad.
