Southeast district police on Tuesday claimed to have solved a murder case by tracing the carton box, in which the dismembered body of a woman was found. The woman, identified as Juhi, was allegedly murdered by her husband. Parts of her body were dumped by her husband.

The accused persons were  identified as Mohammad Sajid Ali Ansari (26), the husband, an unemployed engineer, and his brothers — Mohd Ishteyaque Alam Ansari (28) and Mohd Hasmat Ali Ansari (46), working as a contractor for an NGO.

DCP (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said the probe in this murder began after the severed parts of a female body were found packed in cartons. They stated that they traced the carton box, belonging to a Movers & Packers company in Gurugram, to one Javed Akhtar who used and stored the boxes in his flat in Shaheen Bagh, Jamia Nagar. Akhtar told police that he had rented out the flat to the accused Sajid Ali Ansari  in March, 2018, through a dealer Biswal said.

Suspicions arose when the accused, Sajid Ali Ansari vacated the flat on 22 June, a day after the body was found. During interrogation, the accused confessed that he strangulated his wife after a quarrel. He stated that they were having marital issues, due to their financial problems and his extra-marital affair with another woman. He strangulated his wife after a quarrel, and disposed the body by chopping it into seven parts, and wrapping it in a bag and carton, the DCP said.

His brothers helped him in cutting the body into several pieces and they dumped it in the  forest area of Okhla on June 21. The woman and her husband, both belong from Chappra, Bihar, where they developed a friendship and later married in 2014. They have two children, he added.
