On the fourth consecutive day of Chipko-like movement in Delhi, the green lovers are all set to file a contempt of court against National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) for violating High Court’s order against felling trees till July 4.  Tress were axed on Monday night on the direction of NBCC.

Dr Kaushal Kant Mishra, the petitioner in the HC, told The Pioneer, “I have prepared all legal documents, photos and videos pertaining to the matter. On our request, NBCC has stopped felling trees.”

Activists have launched a surveillance drive to protect trees from being chopped.

Meanwhile, Delhi Environment Minister has ordered to file an FIR against the violators. It is pertinent that earlier also, NBCC violated the orders of the Supreme Court by building offices of NATGRID and CISF in a forest zone.

Anil Sood, an activist and petitioner in NGT in this case, said NBCC is habitual offender and has not learnt lessons from its past mistakes.
