Amid reports of discontent brewing among a section of the SC and ST bureaucrats, three officers on Wednesday met Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi in the Secretariat.
Director of Archives A Murali, joint secretaries Bharati Lakhpati Naik and Sharman met the Chief Secretary on Wednesday. Sources said these officers brought to the Chief Secretary’s notice how some of the SC/ST officers have been discriminated against in postings.
They specifically cited how five STs were posted as joint secretaries in the Secretariat and had served for more than three to four years.
Insignificant posts
They also pointed out on some IAS officers, who had served in the districts in important posts were shunted out to insignificant places. They specifically referred to an IAS officer of TS cadre, who sought deputation to Andhra Pradesh unable to work in non-focal post.
The Chief Secretary according to sources asked the officers to prepare a list of such bureaucrats., who were working in various capacities considered to be unimportant.
An officer said the meeting lasted 15 minutes and the Chief Secretary gave them a patient hearing. It is understood that the SC/ST/BC officers plan to send a list of bureaucrats, who they feel are languishing in non-focal posts.
It may be mentioned here that some SC/ST officers had met a senior officer two days ago and shared their agony of allegedly being discriminated in postings because they were Dalits.
