A day after a 25-year-old woman died in an accident after her bike hit an elevated manhole lid in front of Kalaburagi City Corporation on Sunday, her parents and relatives staged a protest outside the corporation office by keeping her body on the main road here on Tuesday.

Asha S. Katti, a resident of Bada Roza, was on her way home from work around 9 p.m. when the accident took place. Her relatives said Asha lost control when her bike hit the manhole lid. She fell off and sustained severe head injuries. She was admitted to Basaveshwar Hospital where she died on Monday evening. The relatives demanded immediate action against officials responsible. Later, city corporation Commissioner Raghunandan Murthy assured the protesters that he would look into the matter.
