Police remain on scene of shooting
Police have not yet found the man who allegedly shot a person in the chest in Lower Hutt.
The armed offenders squad was called to an address in George St, in the suburb of Stokes Valley, about 2.15pm on Tuesday.
A man was found with a chest injury and was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A Hutt Hospital spokeswoman said he was in a ward in a stable condition on Wednesday morning.
Police remained at the scene on Wednesday as forensic officers catalogued evidence. Officers knocked on neighbouring doors and inspected the grounds of Delany Park, across the road.

The cordon on George St had been reduced to the just the house where the shooting took place.
As of midday, there was no update on the whereabouts of the alleged shooter. A spokeswoman said police were "still working to locate" the man.
On Tuesday, Inspector Scott Cooper, of Hutt Valley, said police were "undertaking various inquiries at addresses around Lower Hutt to locate the alleged offender".
The house on George St, where the shooting took place, was still under police guard on Wednesday.
"At this point, we don't believe they are a risk to the wider public."
Everyone involved knew each other, police said.
