COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore city police on Wednesday arrested a 38-year-old man for making a hoax bomb call to the police control room.
The accused has been identified as A Beermohammed alias Pachai Melakai, a resident of Kuniyamuthur.

On Monday evening, Beermohammed made a call to the police control room from his cellphone and claimed that he had planted bombs in several places in Kuniyamuthur area, said a police officer.

Refusing to reveal the places where he had ‘planted’ the bombs, the man prolonged the conversation with the official at the control room. The man, who was in an inebriated condition, challenged the police to find out his whereabouts and arrest him if they could.

After making the call to the control room, the accused switched off his cellphone.

As soon as switched on his phone, the police traced his location and arrested him.

The Kuniyamuthur police registered a case against him.
