Khelo India team visits Sports Academy

The administrator of Sports Authority of India (SAI), New Delhi and Dronacharya Awardee AK Bansal along with his team visited the Madhya Pradesh State Sports Academy. The visit was held under the scheme Khelo India Khelo here on Tuesday.

The members of the committee reviewed the hockey, shooting, rowing and athletics games and reviewed the facilities being made available to the players. The committee included members Rajinder Singh, Regional Director of SAI Bhopal, Vajir Singh Phogat Athletics Senior Coach, Narendra Singh Seni and DD Sharma. The members of the committee met the Director Sports and Youth Welfare S.L. Thoussen. Thoussen informed the members about departmental activities and achievements and presented them with mementos. The members of the Central Committee of SAI visited the shooting academy where they observed 10 meters, 25 meters and 50 meters of state-of-the-art shooting ranges, amnesty store, TPA and Skeet Range. They also had a discussion with other players including international shooter Sanjay Singh Rathod, Pragati Dubey, Shefali Rajat and others. A film based on shooting and horse riding was also screened there.

The members of the committee visited Equestrian Academy and observed De Sage, Indoor and Outdoor Show Jumping Area and appreciated the show jumping performance of the players. The members of the committee witnessed the activities of rowing, kayaking-canoeing and sailing at the Water Sports Center. Besides, they also met the Technical Consultant and Chief Coach of Water Sports Academy, G.L. Yadav, Piyush Baru, Pawan Kumar and the players.

The members of the committee also reviewed the Madhya Pradesh State Men's Hockey Academy and the hostel and were informed about the hockey facilities by trainer Tushar Khandekar. Apart from sports, the members visited medicine center, Karate and Fencing Area at the city stadium, audiovisual hall, billiards snooker hall, wrestling, judo, athletics academy and gymnasium.

On the visit the members watched and appreciated the performance of the players in the national training camp conducted at Karate Academy. During the visit of the Central Committee members, the joint director Vinod Pradhan and B.S. Yadav, Assistant Director O.P. Harod, Vikas Kharadkar, Kshipra Shrivastav, Uma Patel and Pradeep Rawat were present.
