RANCHI: One CPI (Maoist) member was gunned down in a police encounter during an intensive combing operation, launched by State Police in 'Budha Pahar' area on the borders of Latehar and Garhwa districts of Jharkhand on Wednesday.
The combing operation was launched after six jawans of Jharkhand Jaguar were killed in a landmine blast triggered by the Maoists on Tuesday.
"We have gunned down a Maoist in Budha Pahar area and one INSAS Rifle has also been recovered from spot," said IG (Operations) Ashish Batra.
Other rebels are also supposed to have been hit during the encounter and the casualty might go up on their side, he added.
Batra informed that encounter was still on in Budha Pahar till late afternoon.
Six jawans of Jharkhand Jaguar were killed in a landmine blast triggered by Maoists on the borders of Garhwa and Latehar district of Jharkhand.
DGP DK Pandy who visited Medica Hospital on Wednesday to see four injured jawans reiterated that Maoists from the area will be eliminated very soon.
"Outsiders, who have been creating disturbances in Budha Pahar, will be eliminated very soon and our battle still continues in that direction," said the DGP EoM
