Meghan Markle: The one thing Prince Harry’s wife always carries now she is a Duchess
MEGHAN MARKLE, 36, who is married to Prince Harry, 33, has been a fully fledged member of the royal family for over a month now. The Duchess of Sussex carries a certain item now compared to when she was not a royal.
Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, stepped out with Prince Harry last night.
They attended the Queen’s Young Leaders Awards at Buckingham Palace.
The Duchess was pictured carrying a certain item she rarely sported before she entered the royal family.
She carried a clutch bag, known as the Prada Convertible Leather clutch.
The high end designer bag costs an eye watering £1,918.
There is a special reason Meghan, who used to carry all sorts of handbags, now carries exclusively clutches at public appearances.
It represents her transformation from an ordinary person to a “member of royalty”, said a royal expert.
“I suspect that when Meghan was an actress and not a member of royalty, she kept money, make-up, and the kitchen sink in her cross-body bags – as we all do,” Penny Junor told Harper’s Bazaar UK.
“Now that she is a duchess, she doesn’t need anything more useful than lipstick, and possibly her phone.”
Throughout her and Harry’s courtship and engagement, Meghan sported a number of bags.

She used an oversized tan leather bag for her and Harry’s first appearance together at the Invictus Games.
As a royal, she also carried a medium sized £455 Strathberry handbag with a handle when she visited Nottingham with Harry.
Cross body bags also became synonymous with her pre wedding look.
She carried a black and white Oroton crossbody bag and a second Strathberry handbag with a crossbody style.
There may be another reason Meghan carries exclusively clutches as a royal.

It is possible it is following in the precedent set by Kate Middleton.
Meghan has copied a number of Kate Middleton style rules since she became a royal.
The newest member of the royals has followed some key style lessons from the Duchess of Cambridge. Having been married to Prince William since 2011, Kate is often held up as an example of royal style etiquette.
Clutch bags are just one of these lessons. Kate always carries a clutch bag when she is on royal engagements.
This is apparently to avoid shaking hands with people when necessary. Although Meghan has previously had a more tactile relationship with the public than Kate, she too carried a clutch bag today.
