Harley-Davidson's swings back higher, erasing negative impact of earlier Trump tweet

Shares of Harley-Davidson Inc. swung higher to a gain of 0.7% in midday trade Wednesday, reversing a brief dip into negative territory after President Donald Trump took another shot at the motorcycle maker, tweeting that the company should stay "100% in America, with the people that got you your success." The stock was up 0.1% just prior to Trump's tweet, then was down less than 0.1% several minutes later, before bouncing back into positive territory, and then some. Trump's tweet, which repeats tweets he sent on Tuesday, followsthe company's announcement earlier this week that it would eat the near-term costs of EU tariffs, which were imposed in retaliation of steel and aluminum tariffs imposed by Trump on the EU, but said it planned to move some production of EU-bound motorcycles overseas over the longer-term to avoid the EU tariffs. The stock has tumbled 18% year to date, while the S&P 500 has gained 2.3%.
