Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, The special Task Force (STF) busted 5 smugglers of Sand Boa Snake on Monday late night. Three Sand Boa Snakes were recovered from the accused.
SHO of STF police station told that last night it was informed that some suspicious persons were gathered near Ashima Mall and were attempting to sell Sand Boa Snake. Then wildlife team of STF reached the spot and found five suspects.
STF encircled those suspects and seized them. After taking into custody they were identified as Shankar Singh Tomar, a resident of Indore, Umesh Bhargava of Indore, Lakhan Singh Panchol, Resident of Khategaon, Tehrar Khan of Bhopal and Dolatram of Rajgarh.
SHO informed that the price of the recovered snakes is rupees 25 lakhs in India market whereas it can be sold at rupees 50 lakhs in international market.
After their arrest the case under wildlife act and under other sections has been registered. Now police is interrogating accused.
Police is trying to confirm that from where they have captured these Sand Boa Snakes and to whom they were trying to sell them. Police are also exploring their criminal records.
