GPS deactivated, documents submitted were fake

The Ashok Nagar police are on the lookout for a 22-year-old man who is yet to return a car taken from a rental firm in Bengaluru on Monday.

The accused, who identified himself Sai Kumar, had booked the car for 12 hours from Zoomcar, and submitted the required documents.

According to the police, Saikumar picked up the car from the company’s Garuda Mall branch, but failed to return it. When representatives of the firm tried to contact him, they found his phone switched off and the GPS device deactivated.

The firm tried to trace him using the documents he had submitted, only to realise they were fake.

Based on a complaint filed by the manager of the firm, the Ashok Nagar police are now trying to track down the car thief.
