President Ram Nath Kovind will be the Chief Guest at the 64th Convocation of IIT Kharagpur to be held at the campus of the premier institute on July 20.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan has given consent to Kovind's visit to the convocation which will be held at the Tagore Open Air Theatre of the institute, an IIT Kharagpur statement said here today.
Around 2400 students will receive degrees at the convocation programme, the statement said.
The institute will also award Distinguished Alumnus Award to select alumni on the basis of their exemplary contribution in the domains of science and technology, industry, academics and to society, it said.
IIT Kharagpur is the oldest and largest IIT which was set up in the year 1951.
