India, Pak should work together to sort out differences: UAE

Despite siding with Pakistan on the issue of Kashmir in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Government in United Arab Emirates (UAE) feels that Kashmir is a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan and that both countries should work with each other to sort out their differences.

Top sources in the UAE Government added that several countries in the OIC feel that Pakistan is not doing enough to contain radicalisation and terrorism the main concern for India and other countries. They said while the world lauds the efforts made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reach out to Pakistani leadership and extend hand for friendship, same efforts are yet to be seen from the Pakistani side.

“Both Pakistan and India are close friends of ours. We do not deal with Pakistan or India through the prism of each other but we have independent relations and views on them. We want to see our relations growing without undermining each other. We would regret if India and Pakistan are not able to resolve their differences,” Sources said.

They added the world community feels that Pakistan is not doing enough on terrorism front and that it will get more respect if it works to eliminate terrorism. “It would need a lot of efforts to help Pakistan understand that it will get more respect. We are encouraging Pakistan to do more. We wish to see more efforts from Pakistan but we won’t see that unless Pakistan sees that it is respected and has to gain,” they added.

The top leadership in the UAE believes that radicalisation and terrorism are the biggest threat to the world at present and the world has to collectively work to eliminate the menace.
