4 killed in explosion inside a scrap dealer's shop in Kachhi Sadak

Four people were killed and half a dozen others including two passers-by injured in a mysterious explosion inside a scrap dealer's shop in Kachhi Sadak locality of Muzaffarnagar on Monday morning. Soon after the blast, the police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and started rescue operations. Later, sleuths of Anti-Terrorist Squad(ATS) and Special Task Force(STF) camping from weste UP unit, also reached there and collected debris and sent it to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Agra to confirm the nature of explosive. Panic gripped Sarvat Road area when a powerful explosion took place in a scrap dealer's shop instantly killing Tanzeem (50) and Shazad (55), who were handling scrap. Two others, Nawazish and another person passing by the area, suffered injuries and later died at a hospital. Besides three others received minor injuries, the critically wounded were identified as Kauser, Naushad and Yusuf. They were undergoing treatment at the district hospital and private hospitals in Muzaffarnagar and Lucknow. ADG Meerut Zone and DIG Meerut Range also rushed to the spot while a large contingent of police was deployed in the area. IG of Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), Asim Arun ruled out a terror angle. "A team of ATS is at the site. No terror angle has so far come to light. The site has been sealed and a probe has been initiated to identify the nature of explosive," he said.
