Purva beats Eshita to bag fourth international title

Varun wins silver in maiden jr final; Sukant grabs 2 silver medals

Pune: City based Purva Barve claimed her fourth international title in a row, while Varun Kapur in his maiden international final finished runners up in the Mongolia Junior (Under-19) International Series 2018 title at the National Sports Centre, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Both Nikhil Kanetkar Badminton Academy (NKBA) trainees were joined by fellow players Sukant Kadam and Sanyogita Ghorpade who finished with silvers in Ireland and Hyderabad respectively to finish with 1 gold and four silver medals. Purva, Varun and Sukant are funded by the Kanetkar Sports Foundation (KSF), while Sanyogita is supported.  

Top-seeded Purva who trains at the Nikhil Kanetkar Badminton Academy (NKBA) put aside No.2 Eshita Raju (India) 21-12, 21-10 in a 27-minute encounter. The title win added up to the crowns she won at Israel, Cyprus and Croatia earlier this year.

Ranked No 10 in the world, Purva dominated proceedings without dropping a game and stretched her winning streak to 23 matches at international level. Overall Purva claimed her sixth title of her career.
