PANAJI: The staff of 108
ambulance conducted the delivery of a 30-year-old woman from Maina Curtorim on Tuesday afternoon while shifting her to a hospital.
According to a staff member of the ambulance service, the woman was already in labour when the ambulance reached her residence.
The woman’s labour pain intensified while in transit and eventually
para medics stopped the ambulance to conduct her delivery.
“The ambulance was stopped and the woman delivered a healthy baby girl,” said the employee who was onboard the vehicle.
The mother and the baby were later shifted to
Hospicio hospital, Margao where the condition of both is said to be stable.
Emergency technician Vinod Kumar Tiwari and the ambulance’s pilot Sunil Gaonkar had attended to the woman.
According to a 108 ambulance employee, this was not the first time they dealt with such an emergency. A few months ago, they had successfully handled a similar case.
