Students falling victim to viral fevers, says Sankara Rao

Former TDP MP of Parvatipuram Dr.D.V.G. Sankara Rao on Monday urged Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu to take immediate steps for improvement of conditions in the social welfare hostels in the district as several students were falling victim to viral fevers and other diseases.

Mosquito nets

The lack of hygienic conditions in hostels and medical facilities in nearby primary health centres were leading to the death of some students every year, he claimed and urged the ITDA, Education and other departments to provide protected water, mosquito nets and healthy food to the children studying in hostels, particularly in the agency area.

Dr.Sankara Rao, who is currently working as a doctor in the Maharaja Institute of Medical Sciences, has done a study in Parvatipuram area recently.

Study

Following complaints from parents, teachers and students, he sent a detailed report to the Chief Minister’s Office and submitted a copy to former Union Minister P.Ashok Gajapathi Raju, who represents the Vizianagaram parliamentary segment, to look into the issue.

“Poor conditions in hostels are forcing children to drop out of the institutions. We requested the Chief Minister to look into the issue immediately,” said Mr.Sankara Rao.
