Odisha: Woman tweets her ire on reckless ambulance driver
By Express News Service

BHUBANESWAR: A woman took to social media recently stating that an ambulance hit her grandfather’s parked car in BJB Nagar area a few days back and fled the spot.

The woman stated in one of the tweets that her grandfather is a retired IAS officer.  “An empty ambulance rammed into my grandfather’s car at 11:30 am while it was parked, and fled the spot. Is this how a senior citizen and a retired IAS officer is to be treated in Odisha?,” the woman tweeted along with tagging the official Twitter handles of Home Department, Odisha Police and Commissionerate Police.

In another tweet, she said, “An 108 ambulance is meant for rescuing, but instead the emergency vehicle rammed a senior citizen’s parked car. How can you support reckless driving for ambulances?”. The woman tagged the official Twitter handles of National Health Mission, Odisha, and Department of Health and Family Welfare in her second tweet.

Subsequently, Commissionerate Police forwarded the woman’s tweet to Bhubaneswar DCP for necessary action. “We have directed the local police station inspector in charge for inquiring into the matter. Since we have not received a complaint in this regard, we will also urge the woman to lodge her grievance at the local police station,” Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Kumar Sahoo told The Express.
