HARRISONBURG - A man came into a Harrisonburg Chili's on East Market Street Friday afternoon brandishing a knife, according to WHSV reports.
According to the WHSV report, just before 3:30 p.m. Friday, a man came into the restaurant wielding a knife and began threatening customers.
Police responded to the scene and, in the course of their confrontation, an officer shot the man inside Chili's, WHSV reported.
According to Harrisonburg officials, a white male, who did not appear to be a customer, entered the restaurant and brandished a knife, threatening customers.
The male, Thomas Albun Beall, Jr., 31, of Broadway, was taken to Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital, where he has since been pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing.
The name of the officer involved will not be released at this time and they will be placed on administrative leave as a standard procedure, officials said.
