Collector K. Rajamani on Monday flagged off mobile tuberculosis (TB) diagnostic vans to detect TB affected persons and create awareness on the disease.
The awareness vehicles will visit various parts of the district to identify persons with symptoms of tuberculosis. Members of awareness teams will visit highly populated areas, brick kilns, refugee camps, homes for orphans, residential schools, among others, for six days.
Mr. Rajamani said pamphlets would be distributed to residents and vulnerable persons screened for the disease. The mobile vans had all equipment for the purpose. It would enable health authorities to begin systematic treatment of TB patients. If they followed the prescribed medicines, they would be cured.
People should come forward and subject themselves to the tests, he added.
