Rs 64 lakh allotted for school students’ tours
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Tourism department will allocate Rs 64 lakh for 32 districts for school students’ tours. Such tours help create awareness among students about tourist places in Tamil Nadu, Tourism Minister Vallamandi N Natarajan said, replying to discussions on demands for grants on Monday.

Kalaimamani awards will be presented soon: Minister
Chennai: Minister for Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture K Pandiarajan on Monday told the Assembly that Kalaimamani awards which had not been announced for the past few years would be announced soon and over 100 artistes would be getting it. The minister said this in response to a query by a DMK MLA.

House witnesses ‘Telugu chercha
Chennai: The  Assembly on Monday witnessed a ‘Telugu chercha’ among DMK member Y Prakash from Thalli, Minister for Youth Welfare and Sport Development P Balakrishna Reddy and former School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu on making study of Tamil compulsory for minority students in the State.

Pension for Tamil scholars hiked
Chennai: Pension for Tamil language martyrs and aged Tamil scholars will be increased, said Ma Foi K Pandiarajan, Minister for Tamil Official Language and Tamil  Culture, when he answered a question during question hour in the Assembly on Monday. R Rajendran, Salem North MLA, raised the issue in the assembly.
