Iowa City will get its second stand-alone Starbucks location later this year.

Starbucks plans to open the new location in Gateway One Plaza, a shopping center at the southwest corner of Highway 1 West and South Riverside Drive, this winter, a company spokeswoman confirmed to The Gazette in an email.

The company did not respond when asked for further details about the location, such as its size. Construction crews could be seen this week preparing a site in Gateway One’s parking lot for the store.

The only other stand-alone Starbucks store in Iowa City is located downtown at the corner of South Clinton Street and East Burlington Street. The company also has one stand-alone location in Coralville and three in Cedar Rapids.
