Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Fekir to Man Utd claim, huge Ziyech boost, Shaqiri latest

LIVERPOOL transfer news is coming thick and fast at the minute - Express Sport brings you all the latest rumours and gossip coming out of Anfield.

Ziyech boost

Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech.

The 25-year-old has been attracting interest from a number of European sides after impressing for Ajax in the Eredivisie last season.

Ziyech was expected to complete a switch to Serie A outfit Roma this summer.

However, the Italian side have since purchased Ajax team-mate Justin Kluivert with Paris Saint-Germain outcast Javier Pastore set to follow.

And according to Football Italia, this has opened the door to Liverpool swooping in with a bid this summer.

Fekir to United?

Liverpool looked set to sign Fekir from Lyon at the start of the month after the player passed a medical.

However, the Reds ultimately scrapped a transfer in an act that has opened the door to a Manchester United move.

Lyon have hinted that United want to sign the Liverpool target with Jose Mourinho a huge admirer, with the Manchester Evening News also confirming Fekir may replace Marouane Fellaini.

And Get French Football have now claimed that Fekir’s demands to his agent may end with an Old Trafford transfer.

The 24-year-old was reportedly crushed when Liverpool opted against pursuing his signature earlier this month.

Confidence over Shaqiri deal

Liverpool are confident of landing Xheridan Shaqiri this summer.

The Gambling Times claim the likes of Tottenham, Southampton, Everton and Wolves are all showing interest in the winger but the Reds remain confident they will win the race for his signature.

Liverpool are set to offer a better financial package than Spurs and believe the appeal of working with Jurgen Klopp will be enough to lure the 26-year-old to Anfield.

Shaqiri is thought to be available for just over £13m due to a release clause that kicked in following Stoke’s relegation.

The Reds have focused their attention on the former Bayern Munich ace of late due to their troubles in signing Fakir.

And according to the Liverpool Echo, Keita is likely to inherit the No 8 shirt which hasn’t been used since Steven Gerrard left the club in the summer of 2015.

The report also claims that Keita has requested to take the shirt, although there hasn’t been an official announcement from the Anfield outfit yet.

Salah apologises

Mohamed Salah has apologised as Egypt crashed out of the World Cup.

The Liverpool star, who has been caught up in a political row this week, looked disgruntled as his nation crashed out of the tournament with three defeats in as many games.

"We want to apologise to all the Egyptian fans, who came to support us here in the three matches," Salah told beIN Sports.

"I know it is difficult for them, like us. Just want to say that Egypt reached the World Cup after 28 years, some players here do not have the required experience, thanks to all of them and we will back again in 2022."
