Memory Café to host music therapist

Community report

The Memory Café will host Lucille Cimino, a music therapist, at 11 a.m., June 29, at Geauga County Public Library’s Chardon Branch, 110 East Park St.

The event is for those with memory issues and their loved ones to spend time with others facing the same issues, according to a news release.

Cimino, of Sound Inspirations Music Therapy, will lead a musical program. She helps the participants understand the impact music has on brain functioning, as a relaxation tool, and how music can kindle memories, the release stated.

Evidence indicates that people respond intuitively to music even with the most advanced stages of dementia. Attendees can take home ideas for using music to add joy to their lives and where to find additional music therapy resources.
