Eleven soccer fans, who face charges relating to the pitch invasion at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in April, appeared in the Durban Regional Court on Tuesday.

Their case was postponed to August 2 for a pre-trial conference.

It was the first time that all eleven men appeared in court together.

John Khumalo, Phelelani Jojisa‚ Lungisani Jaca‚ Zibongile Njova‚ Nolwethu Sokotha‚ Douglas Mkhize‚ Cebolendoda Hadebe‚ Khwezilomo Madiba‚ Sihle Zungu and Siphosenkosi Memela had appeared together in the Durban Magistrate's Court on May 25, where their case was transferred to the regional court.

The 10 accused were joined by Mlekeleli Dennis Nyembe, 36, who had appeared alone at the Durban Magistrate's Court on May 10 following his arrest the previous day in Umlazi.

He was granted bail of R1000 during his first court appearance, according to KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker.

All the accused were arrested after violence erupted when fans invaded the pitch at the Nedbank Cup semi-final between Kaizer Chiefs and Free State Stars on April 21.

Unhappy fans had assaulted a security guard and stole broadcasting equipment shortly after Chiefs' 2-0 defeat to Stars.
