A woman accused of hitting a pedestrian with her car in Quinte West, Ont., earlier this month was charged with second-degree murder on Monday. 

Provincial police say the incident happened on the afternoon of June 16.

They say 49-year-old Samuel Joseph Andrews of Quinte West was struck by a vehicle, but did not provide details about the incident.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the accused woman, 45, knew the deceased, but would not provide details about the nature of their relationship.

The woman was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
