KANPUR: A colonel in the army was burnt to death when his car went up in flames after crashing into a divider on
Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Etawahon Monday.
Police said
Col Rahul Yadav, a native of Dudha village in Etawah, was posted in Jammu & Kashmir.
"Yadav, along with three other members of his family, was returning home after attending 'bhandara' (community feat) at his relative's place in
Farrukhabad when his car crashed into the road divider in Etawah on Agra-Lucknow Expressway at around 2 am. After crashing into the divider, the car turned turtle and quickly went up in flames," police said.
Passers-by managed to pull out three occupants, but Col Yadav was burnt alive inside the car, said SHO Chaubiya Satish Chandra Yadav.
"Col Yadav's family is from Dudha village in Etawah. He was posted in Jammu & Kashmir," the SHO added.
