Help sought to find missing Ashtabula County teen

The U.S. Marshals Service and the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help to located an 18-year-old female who has been missing for two years.

Caprice Schlageter was reported missing to the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office when she was 16. She left her residence near Andover and never returned.

The Sheriff’s Office followed up on numerous leads in the county as well as in Trumbull County and Western Pennsylvania, but were unable to locate her.

The Marshals recently obtained statutory authority to assist in locating critically missing juvenile and has begun offering assistance to local agencies.

“Many of the skills and tactics used by Marshals to find fugitives can be used to find missing persons,” said Peter J. Elliott, U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio.

A news release from U.S. Marshals states that although Schlageter is now 18, she was a juvenile when she was reported missing and law enforcement must continue to look for her until she is found. Officers must physically see her in person to ensure that she is alive and well.

According to the news release, Schlageter is approximately 5 feet tall, weighing 120 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Investigators also want Schlageter to know that she can call herself and make arrangements for officers to meet her in person.
