Police rescuing a person who jumped from the Napier Bridge on Monday | Express
CHENNAI: A 36-year-old man allegedly jumped from the Napier Bridge into the Cooum River here on Monday.“The man was said to have arrived with his father and friend, and jumped off the bridge around 12 pm, during a conversation. His father contacted the fire service and a Fire and Rescue Safety team arrived around 1 pm and the search continued till 6.30 in the evening along the stretch of Cooum. However, the effort was in vain and the team called off the rescue mission, saying it will be continued tomorrow,” a fire safety officer said.The man is identified as M Mohammed Sayad (36). He is married and has two daughters, said sources.
Boy drowns in temple pond
Chennai: A 19-year-old boy drowned in a temple pond in Mamallapuram on Sunday evening. Police said Pugazhendhi (19), went to take a dip in the pond of Kadampadi Maari Chinnammal temple, but was suddenly stuck in the slush and drowned.
Body of history-sheeter found in Cooum
Chennai: Two bodies were found on the different banks of the Cooum River in the city on Monday morning. “Around 9 am, we recovered the body of S Madhan (25), a history-sheeter who had involved in selling ganja, from the banks of the river near Chetpet. The body had injury marks around the neck and head,” said a police officer. Later, the police arrested two of his rivals, Ganesha Moorthy (18) and Vinodh (19). In another incident, around 10.30 am, a body was found floating in the Cooum river near the Chintadripet railway station. The body was partially decomposed and looked like that of a 35-year-old man wearing blue jeans. We are looking for the missing complaints at the different police stations and only after a detailed investigation, will we know about the person,” said a police officer
