NOIDA: With
monsoon just a hop and skip away, Noida Authority is all set to improve the civic
infrastructure in the city. Following CEO Alok Tandon’s directives, a control room has been set up in Sector 5 with a 24x7 number (0120-2423795) to tend to complaints related to waterlogging.
“While we have deployed 24x7 staff at the control room to attend to calls on the said complaint number, the attendant would also maintain a log register of complaints to be forwarded to concerned officials during a waterlogging situation,” said
Rakesh Kumar Singh, OSD, Noida Authority.
Singh added that there are designated 24 low-lying areas in Noida, out of which Authority has placed permanent and temporary pump sets in 22 areas. “Also, steps have been taken to check back-flow of water in big drains during heavy showers,” said Singh.
While public health department has undertaken the cleaning of the main drain from Sector 51 to
Yamuna river, the cleaning of 25 other big drains in the city which has been underway from May 1, has been completed, said Singh.
On road repair works, Singh stated,“Majority repair work has been completed and whatever is left will be completed by this month including those on damaged roads.”
However, some residents remained skeptic. Sector 51 RWA’s complaint to clean the sector drains remain unattended while RWA Sector 34 complained that trees around Aravalli apartment are yet to be pruned. “As a result, residents have been facing frequent power outages,” said Dharmendra Sharma the RWA president.
