Congress dares KCR to quit today for early elections

HYDERABAD: A day after chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao threw up a challenge at Congress leaders asking them whether they were ready for an early poll, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday launched a counter-offensive asking KCR to go directly to governor ESL Narasimhan and submit his resignation seeking dissolution of the Assembly for an early election.

“KCR should stop playing to the gallery by asking whether the opposition is ready for polls if it is advanced. Who is stopping the CM from submitting his resignation to Narasimhan today itself? Congress will not stop him. Why doesn’t KCR do it? KCR is a CM who never consulted the opposition on any issue during the last four years of his dictatorial rule. Now, why is he asking whether Congress is ready for early polls. Yes, Congress is ready for it in the state and at the national level also and is confident of bringing down the KCR and Modi governments respectively,” Uttam said.

He alleged that KCR has been misleading people about in house surveys giving over 100 seats to TRS. “It is a cheap tactic,” Uttam said, and termed Danam Nagender’s joining TRS as unfortunate.

Meanwhile, AICC secretary in charge of T affairs RC Khuntia said that KCR did not have confidence of winning the elections because he had encouraged defection of MLAs into TRS. “If KCR was so confident of victory, he would have made the defected MLAs resign and seek public mandate,” Khuntia said.
