BENGALURU: A judicial member of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) who went to police alleging that Quikr, an online classified portal, had delivered him poor-quality air conditioners (ACs) has got a refund from the company.

KB Suresh, head of the department and member (judicial), CAT of Bengaluru bench had purchased three ACs, but the delivered products were of poor quality.

A Quikr spokesperson on Monday said they returned Suresh the money (Rs 76,500) he had paid for the three ACs.

According to RT Nagar police, Suresh visited an exhibition held at Tripura Vasini Hall at Palace Grounds on June 18, where Quikr had set up a stall. Quikr staff told Suresh they were selling brand new ACs at a discounted price. Keen to make a purchase, Suresh shared his contact details with those at the counter.

On June 21, Quikr representatives emailed Suresh and asked him if he would buy the ACs. Suresh sent a confirmation mail, in which he ordered three ACs costing around Rs 25,500 each. A company representative said the machines would come with warranty.

As per their communication, Suresh paid Quikr Rs 76,500 through online banking and the ACs were delivered to his house the same day. But Suresh, however, found the box was torn and the products were not in good shape. Unsure about the goods, Suresh asked the delivery boys to take them back, but they refused to do so. Suresh tried contacting Quikr representatives over phone, but in vain. Eventually, he filed a complaint with RT Nagar police.

“It was evident that they hadn’t delivered new ACs. I asked the delivery boy to take them back, but they left the products at my home and asked me to contact company representatives,” saidSuresh.

However, a Quikr spokesperson said: “The unboxed products (which were delivered to Suresh) are as good as new and non-defective. If the products do not meet expectations, we take them back and refund the money.”
