Sorry Famous in Love fans, we may never find out who was on that stretcher in the Season 2 finale.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Freeform has decided to cancel Famous in Love after just two seasons due to difficulties making a streaming deal with Hulu as well as clashes between series star Bella Thorne and showrunner I. Marlene King. Sources said Thorne exhibited certain "diva-like behavior" and had expressed a desire to leave the show.
Freeform has since commented that no official decision has been made about the show, but the cancellation news spread like wildfire, surprising several people involved with the project.
Apparently Thorne found out about the "cancellation" at the same time as everyone else. Thorne immediately took to Twitter when the news broke, retweeting the news and writing, "If this is how I find out our show is canceled..I'm going to be so upset. Very hurtful freeform. I woulda liked a phone call maybe."
King also refuted the rumors of cancellation and feuding on Twitter, saying, "Despite what may be out there I am not in a feud w @bellathorne. We have, and have always had, a friendly and professional relationship... FACT: The ENTIRE @FamousInLoveTV cast and crew are crossing our fingers and toes as we light candles for a S3 pickup. #Raige On!"
If the cancellation sticks, this marks the second show Freeform has canceled in a seemingly sudden fashion -- Shadowhunters being the first -- with both casts expressing regret at not being informed of their shows' fate ahead of the cancellation news. However, unlike Shadowhunters, it doesn't appear Freeform will be giving any additional wrap-up episodes to Famous in Love, making its May 30 Season 2 finale its series finale.
