Army officer's car caught fire on Lucknow-Agra Expressway

In a tragic incident, an Army officer returning home with his family, was fatally charred while four of his family were seriously injured as their car caught fire on Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Etawah on Monday morning. 

The police rushed to the spot after learning of the incident and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital. A case was registered and the body of the Army officer was sent for autopsy.

As per reports, Lieutenant Rahul Kumar Yadav was returning from Ganga Ghat of Farrukhabad after attending a religious function in the wee hours of Monday.

Circle Officer (City, Etawah) Anjani Kumar said that his Wagon R car hit a road divider near Chaubiya areaof Etawah on Lucknow-Agra Expressway after which it caught fire. 

While Rahul, who was on the driver’s seat, was trapped inside and burnt alive, his mother Manoj Kumari, aunt Reena, sister-in-law Meera Devi and nephew Harshit sufered serious burns. 

They were rescued by some passers-by and were admitted to Saifai hospital. The police later reached there and said that Rahul Kumar of Didhoj locality of Chaubiya (Etawah) was posted as Lieutenant in Imphal and come on leave to visit his native place. He was presently living with his family in Friends Colony in Etawah.

Meanwhile in Mainpuri, a father-son duo were killed in a road accident near Nagla Sabha village under Dannahar police station area. 

As per reports, Jaideo Singh (50) and his son Saroj (25) were on their way to work when a speeding Pick-up vehicle hit their two-wheeler, killing them on the spot.The truck driver fled the scene after the accident. The bodies were sent for postmortem. 

Elsewhere in Ballia, two persons drowned while taking a dip in Ghaghra river at Adhisujhiya village on Monday morning. 

Lalti Devi (30) and Sandeep (14) were bathing in the river, when they slid into deep waters and drowned. The bodies were fished out of the water and sent for autopsy.
