Fake edible oil tins seized, one person arrested

The police today seized over hundred tins of adulterated edible oils from a makeshift godown located in Jagatpur area here and arrested one person in this connection, a senior police officer said.

Police have also seized several empty tins, chemicals, stickers and logo of various branded companies dealing with edible oils from the godown, said city DCP Akhileswar Singh.

Singh said an unscrupulous trader Anadi Behera of Mangalabag area of the city was doing business at Jagatpur.

"Getting a tip, the Jagatpur police raided Beheras godown and seized huge quantities of adulterated products of both mustard and refined packed in new tins with stickers and logos of branded companies on it," Singh said adding that Behera has been arrested.

The city police had recently unearthed two adulterated packaging units dealing with fake edible oils from Khan Nagar and Ranihat areas of the city.
