Ajax part ways with striker Ndoro

2018-06-25 14:35

Cape Town - Absa Premiership side Ajax Cape Town have confirmed the club has parted ways with striker Tendai Ndoro just six months into his stay in the Mother City.

"The Urban Warriors have officially parted ways with Tendai Ndoro," the club said on its website.

"Ndoro's contract was up for renewal at the end of this month (June 2018); however the club have opted not to extend his stay at Ikamva.

"The club would like to wish Tendai all the best in his future endeavours and thank him for his services over the past six months," the statement concluded.

This is a sensational end to Ndoro’s time at the Cape-based side after the Urban Warriors were found guilty of contravening FIFA regulations by fielding the player.

FIFA rules dictate that while a player can be registered for three clubs in one campaign, the individual can only play for two sides. In 2017/18 Ajax and the 32-year-old forward were found to have contravened these laws.

As punishment, Ajax forfeited three matches - against Platinum Stars, Polokwane City and SuperSport United - by a scoreline of 3-0 resulting in a seven point deduction from their final league season points tally.

As a result, Ajax finished bottom of the Absa Premiership standings and were automatically relegated to the National First Division (NFD).

Owner Ari Efstathiou seems to have accepted Ajax's fate - in streamlining the club's wage bill by releasing Ndoro - even though a final ruling on the matter is to be announced in the coming days.
