The car involved in the accident
BELAGAVI: Three college students died on the spot on Sunday when their bike collided with a car coming from the opposite direction. The accident occurred when the trio was returning from a temple.
The deceased Atharva Jadhav(16), Harsh Savgavkar(17) and Aman Kapileshwari(17), all residents of Belagavi, were studying in different colleges.
Police said the accident occurred when the trio was trying to overtake a vehicle and rammed into the car.
The victims were returning after visiting Bhoothnath temple at Ganibail. All three died on the spot, informed police. Belagavi Rural police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies. The bodies were handed over to relatives after post-mortem.
The police said the driver of the car has gone absconding after the incident. Belagavi Rural police have registered a case. While Atharva lived in Konwar galli, Harsh was a resident of Mujawar Galli and Aman lived in Ansurkar galli. “It is dangerous for three people to ride a bike. Parents must be cautious while giving bikes to their wards as it may result in rash driving and accidents. The traffic volume between Belagavi and Khanapur is high even on Sundays,” said a police officer.
