Karnataka: 5 killed in road accident on NH4 near Nippani

BELAGAVI: Five people were killed on the spot and two others injured in a road accident on the outskirts of Nippani town in the Belagavi district in Karnataka on Monday morning after a Bolero jeep driver lost the control of the vehicle and hit a mini truck.

The incident occurred on Pune-Bengaluru National Highway-4. According to police sources, the Bolero fetching vegetables from Ghataprabha town to Kolhapur went on the wrong side and rammed against the mini truck coming from the opposite direction. The mini truck was heading towards Bengaluru.


All the deceased were travelling in Bolero vehicle while the driver and the cleaner of mini truck have been injured. They were admitted to the private hospital. Both the vehicles were massively damaged in the accident. All the deceased are the age group of 30 to 40 and police are engaged in tracing their name and addresses. A case has been registered in Nippani town police station.
