A 27-year-old Sanger man is dead after he was reportedly run over by a 17-year-old Bowie girl while he was lying in the roadway early Sunday morning.
A Texas Department of Public Safety news release identified the man as John Thomas Hickman IV.
Around 5:20 a.m., troopers were called to a single vehicle crash in Montague County involving a pedestrian.
Upon arrival to the scene just south of Bowie on State Highway 101 and Feedlot Road, troopers determined Hickman had been lying in the roadway.
As the teenage driver approached on Highway 101 in her 2008 Toyota passenger car, she didn't have a chance to make an "evasive maneuver" and ran over Hickman, the release stated.
Hickman was pronounced dead at the scene by a local justice of the peace.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and no one was transported to a hospital by emergency personnel.
According to the release, it is unclear why Hickman was lying in the roadway after the preliminary investigation.
No charges have been filed in the incident as of Sunday afternoon. DPS troopers are investigating the crash.
