Youth detention centre staff bashed after they step in to stop brawl

Youths assaulted five staff at the Malmsbury juvenile detention centre after intervening to stop a brawl.

Police were told there was a fight between three boys at the centre just after 9.30am on Monday.

Staff intervened and five of them suffered minor injuries. Two were hospitalised with injuries to their faces.

Kyneton police are investigating and charges have not yet been laid.
